Gerald R. Weeks, Ph.D. ABPP, CST is a retired Professor in the Program in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. From 1985-1999, he was Program Director at Council for Relationships (formerly Marriage Council of Philadelphia)/Division of Family Study, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is the founder of the Intersystem Approach to Therapy and the Intersystem Approach to Sex Therapy. He is a licensed Psychologist, Approved-Supervisor, and Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and is a Diplomate (Board-Certified) and Senior Examiner of the American Board of Family Psychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Weeks is also a Clinical Member, Certified Sex Therapist, and Approved Supervisor of Sex Therapy of the American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapist (AASECT). He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology. In 2009 he became the 16th member in the history of AAMFT to receive the “Outstanding Contribution to Marriage and Family Therapy” and in 2010 he received the “Family Psychologist of the Year” award from The Academy of Family Psychology of Division 43 of the American Psychological Association. He has published 25 advanced professional books across a broad spectrum of topics, including some of the major contemporary texts in the fields of individual, sex, couple and family therapy. Some of his books are widely used in marriage and family therapy masters and doctoral programs in the U.S. and abroad. Many have been translated into other languages. Dr. Weeks has lectured extensively throughout North American, Australia and Europe on sex, couple, and individual psychotherapy. Dr. Weeks has more than 35 years of experience in practicing and supervising individual, sex, couple, and family therapy.
